The purpose of the honor guard is to represent the Campbellsport Fire Department in various events such as funerals, parades, and award ceremonies.
The Campbellsport Fire Department Honor Guard was formed in 2006. The photo contains the original members of the honor guard, however since the photo was taken, a couple extra members have been added. We currently have 10 members in the unit.
The Campbellsport Fire Department Honor Guard is available by request for memorial services to all Wisconsin Fire Service personnel. The Honor Guard will also assist and/or work in conjunction with other Honor Guards for "Line of Duty" deaths for Police and EMS personnel as requested. To request the honor guard please call 920-533-5266.
The mission of the Campbellsport Fire Department Honor Guard is to serve as representatives of the Fire Department at formal occasions as directed by the Fire Chief. The Honor Guard projects a positive image of the Department and its members by performing as a well-trained professional team at events. The Honor Guard Practices often to keep up on their skills and improve them. The Honor Guard is dedicated to honoring fallen firefighters, their families, and Department members, past and present.
An Honor Guard consists of five members, three who carry flags, other two members are on either side of the flags carrying common firefighting tools. Those two firefighters carry an axe and a pike pole. These two tools protect the flags.
The members of the CFD Honor Guard made three year commitments to be on the Honor Guard. CFD members became good friends with the Milwaukee Fire Dept. Honor Guard because they were trained by members of the MFD Honor Guard which is one of the best honor guards on the country, going all over the nation to formal occasions and "Line of Duty" deaths.
Recently the CFD Honor Guard has been busy. CFD HG was called to assist Dodge co. Honor Guard during a funeral for a firefighter who was killed while driving to class. CFD HG was called upon to serve for funeral services for an area chief. Members did things from parking cars to standing guard of the casket. CFD HG worked with Milwaukee HG as part of the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial Honor Guard during the Final Alarm Ceremony at the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial in Wisconsin Rapids.
