TO OUR TOWN
FROM THE EMTs
We’re sorry if we wake you in the middle of the night,
but someone in your area is
fighting for their life.
Sometimes someone is choking,
sometimes a child in need,
sometimes a heart stops beating, sometimes we watch you grieve.
So if you catch our sadness when we thought we were
alone
you’ll know we’ve had a “bad one” and our emotions we postpone.
You ask us how we do it, “I couldn’t do that stuff”.
We’ll keep on answering your call, even when the going gets tough.
Somewhere deep within us, our souls are crying out
“we’re here to help our neighbors, that’s what we are about.”
God gave us something special to help us see you through.
We’re there because we love you, and it is the thing to do.

| The Campbellsport Fire Dept. currently operates two ambulances. CFD has two Medtec Ford E-450 ambulances (see apparatus). Ambulance #400 is staffed with at least two EMT's 24/7/365 (see shift schedule) and Ambulance #401 is staffed when there is a second call by first come first go basis with at least 2 EMT's. Campbellsport Fire Dept. Ambulances proudly serve the Villages of Campbellsport and Eden, and the Townships of Ashford, Auburn, Osceola, and Eden. CFD Ambulances work with the Eden First Responders, Lomira First Responders, Campbellsport Police Dept. and Fond du Lac County Sheriffs Dept. CFD Ambulances do mutual aide with Kewaskum, Theresa and the City of Fond du Lac when their ambulances are busy and they do the same for us if our ambulances are busy. Campbellsport Ambulances run with EMT-Basic's, which is basic life support able to do many things to help save lives. Currently the Campbellsport Fire Dept. has 25 EMT-B's 2 EMT-B Trainee's. EMT's are well trained medical personnel that take a 144 hour EMT course that have to meet special requirements and pass a National Registry written and practical exam. All EMT's have to do an EMT refresher course every two years and have to keep up a valid Wisconsin EMT license and current CPR certification. EMT-Basic's can administer oxygen, baby aspirin, nebulized medications, epinephrine auto injections, oral glucose, glucagon injection, activated charcoal, and the MARK 1 kit. EMT-Basic's can also assist patients with their PRESCRIBED nitroglycerin and their PRESCRIBED inhaler. Along with medications EMT's have the ability to use Automated External Defibrillators, advanced non-visualize airways(combitube) and C-Pap which forces the oxygen into the patient, blood glucose checks. EMT's are trained how to handle many difficult situations professionally, provide basic life support and transport patients to the hospital. If there is a patient that is in very serious condition we will call for Advanced Life Support intercept. ALS Intercepts are done by the Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Paramedics or the West Bend Fire/Rescue EMT-Intermediates. Another form of ALS intercept is helicopter intercept, they are done by Flight For Life of Milwaukee and Theda Star of Neenah. Helicopter Intercepts usually run with a pilot, doctor and registered nurse. They can start IV's, administer life saving medications, monitor the hearts activity and perform many other procedures that will help save a life. Campbellsport Fire Dept. EMT's have to work within Wisconsin EMT-Basic scope of practice and within the protocols provided by our medical control St. Agnes Hospital Emergency Dept. |
